Lake Greenwood is located near the towns of Greenwood and Ninety Six, about an hour to the northwest of Columbia and around forty-five minutes to the southeast of Greenville. The waters of the Saluda and Reedy Rivers come fromthe northwest and feed into Lake Greenwood, which was created between 1935 and 1940 with the construction of Buzzard’s Roost Dam.
Lake Greenwood has 212 miles of shoreline and 11,400 surface acres of water, and today it is owned by Greenwood County. A relatively shallow lake, Lake Greenwood averages 18 feet deep and is 60 feet deep at its deepest point. The Greenwood County Lake Management Department controls permitting, camping, upkeep and maintenance on the lake, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources helps to manage the fishery resource.
Fishermen target Lake Greenwood’s healthy populations of largemouth and now spotted bass, black and white crappie, bream and catfish, and channel and flathead catfish. DNR also stocks striped bass in the lake, although not in the quantities which they put into Lake Murray, Clarks Hill and other major striper fisheries. White bass are also present in Greenwood, although they are increasingly being displaced by the white perch population. Santee Cooper water levels are back down to 73.84 in Lake Marion (full pool is 76.8) but up to 73.09 in Lake Moultrie (full pool is 75.5). Surface water temperatures are around 48-51 degrees and the lake is pretty dingy.
The bass fishing is a little better this week on Santee, as judged by the results of the Sunday Showdown Series where a 7-pounder and a 5-pounder took the win, but Captain Brett Mitchell (803-379-7029) reports

For right now the bass fishing patterns remain about the same on Lake Monticello, if a bit shallower, and tournament bass angler Andy Wicker of Pomaria reports
Lake Keowee is at 98.0% of full pool.Water temperatures are now in the low 50s over most of the lake, but they range from the high 40s in the back of creeks to around 60 mid-lake by the power plant.Clarity is normal.
Lake Hartwell water levels are down to 658.56 (full pool is 660.00). The lake is clear and water temperatures run from about 48 degrees down to the mid-40s.
While there is still a deep pattern for bass on Lake Hartwell, Guide Brad Fowler reports
Clarks Hill water levels are up to 328.12 (full pool is 330.00) and water temperatures range from about 49 down the lake to 45 up the rivers.The lake is mostly clear with a slight stain as of this morning, but as it continues to rain the lake is likely to get fairly dirty.

Lake Murray water levels are at 354.40 (full pool is 360.00).While much of the lake is fairly clear, portions of the Little Saluda are stained (while the Big Saluda is good) and there is some colored water from where the rivers come together to about Rocky Creek.Water temperatures range from the 40s up the rivers to the low 50s near the dam.

Lake Russell water levels are down to 473.77 (full pool is 475.00).Water temperatures are down to about 51 degrees and as of yesterday most of the lake is clear.
