Tournament director William Hooker reported that even though water temperatures were only around 49 or 50 degrees, with slight warming during the day, most of the guys seemed to fish shallow in less than 6-8 feet of water. Crankbaits such as #5 or #7 Shad Raps were the most popular lures.
