27 anglers fished Clarks Hill Lake for this D-96 1-day qualifier for the 2013 AFT National Championship to be held on Clarks Hill Lake in October of 2013.
The day started out with cloudy and 68 degrees. It remained cloudy for most of the day and the wind varied from 5 to 15 mph out of the SE. It was 86 degrees by the 3pm weigh-in. Water temp averaged in the lower 80’s. Our fish mortality rate was not good for this event. It was 11% with 12 of the 109 bass dead at weigh-in.
Our winner, Steve Christie of Gray Court, SC fished the lower part of the lake with a Carolina Rig (Trick Worm) for 5 fish at 19.62 lbs. that included a 6.76 lb. kicker. Steve had 3 dead fish which knocked his weight to 18.12 lbs. which was just enough to hold off 2nd place William Hooker who had 5 fish at 17.68 lbs. and the tournament big fish at 7.18 lbs. William caught all his fish on flukes and was also fishing the lower part of the lake.
